The ridge flanks the Cayman Trough some 6,000 m (20,000 ft) deep which lies 6km (3.7 mi) to the south and just a few hundred yards off the coast of Grand Cayman, the reefs go as deep as 800 feet so if you are into fishing come prepared to pull in blue marlin, wahoo, mahi-mahi, tuna, and barracuda without having to go very far.

The Cayman Islands are a true fisherman's paradise with marlin, tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi, swordfish and shark found in abundance all year round. We do not have “low season” for fishing in the Cayman Islands although a few types of fish are more visible in certains months.
